During the early days of the PC, we installed applications and went to work. Since then, the way we work and the way applications need to be managed has changed enormously. Today we are dealing with the ‘modern workplace’, which is seen by most organizations as a cloud-oriented workplace that offers the user flexibility and efficiency. This modern – or digital – workplace also requires a different way of managing applications and users:  a more  modular approach than the monolithic approach we followed before.
